4) Maths - WALT: find 1 more or 1 less, 10 more or 10 less
Using our Place value
skills, find 1 more or 1 less and 10 more or 10 less from any
given number. See what happens to the value of each number when you add or
subtract them.
1 Star Challenge
'Zap it!' One more or one less game
Place sticks face down in the pot, players take turns to pull out a stick and say the number one more or
one less than the number on the stick. If they pull out a stick with '
zap it!' written on, they must put all their sticks back in the pot.
Work as a team to try to get all the sticks out of the pot apart from
the ones with 'zap it'! written on!
(You can also write on a small square paper instead of ice cream stick!)
2 Star Challenge
Draw or make a card similar as below. Pick a number and write it in the middle square. Fill in the rest of the missing numbers. For more fun and challenge: Change the number in the center as many times as you want and answer accordingly.
3 Star Challenge.
Read and solve the word problems below.
1. Sienna
has 40 apples. Her gran gives her 10 more. How many does she have altogether?
2. On Jacob’s birthday he received 36 presents. When he came to school, he got 10 more
presents. How many did he have in total?
3. Ms. Zarina & Mr Dave put 23 children’s
work up on display. They then put up 10 more.
How
many children's work are there altogether?

box. How many cars has Rafa got now?
6. 76 people were on a bus
and 10 got off. After half an hour, 1 passenger joined in, how many people are
there altogether?
