Science : WALT: Classify invertebrates and vertebrates.
A vertebrate is an animal with a backbone. (An invertebrate is an animal without a backbone.) Fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, including humans, are all vertebrates.
Invertebrates are animal with backbone or bony skeleton. They range in size from microscopic mites and almost invisible flies to giant squid with soccer ball size eyes.
